It’s berry season in many locations across the United States! Strawberries, Blueberries, Acai Berries, Raspberries, and Blackberries are all tasty types of berries. Berries are rich in antioxidants and phytochemicals which may help protect us from the effects of aging, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure and certain types of cancer. To ensure your berries stay fresh, keep them dry and only wash right before you eat them.

Tip! Berries going bad? Berries freeze well. Put dry berries on a cookie sheet in a single layer, and stick it in the freezer. Once the berries are frozen, put them into a container or plastic bag and leave it in the freezer for up to one year. This is a great way to enjoy summer berries all year long in pies, smoothies, muffins, and much more!
