NEWS: Eurest Expands Uniform Program with Woman-Owned Newchef
As leaders innovating the modern workplace, Eurest recently revamped its uniform program to greater support U.S. jobs and manufacturing while accounting for comfort, quality and inclusivity. Eurest partnered with Newchef to create an expanded uniform program that includes updated trend-forward designs, leveraging the expertise of the woman-owned business and its longstanding history of crafting apparel for culinary teams.
“For more than 15 years, Newchef has been a reliable partner, and identifying ways to increase U.S. production and support a small business was important to us,” said Eurest Chief Culinary Officer Chef Chris Ivens-Brown. “This expansion truly levels up our uniform offering and ensures that every associate, regardless of shape, size or form, feels comfortable and confident at work.”
With a focus on research-driven design, Newchef’s team delved into emerging trends, fabrics, and patterns, evaluating factors such as weight, trim and color. During the concepting phase, the partners considered durability, flexibility, size inclusivity and quality materials to match the needs of its diverse workforce, conducting extensive fit and wear tests. Design modifications were added, including slits in longer uniforms to accommodate movement across all activity levels.
Natacha Jacque, Eurest Senior Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, emphasized the significance of partnering with a woman-owned business, “When a female chef puts on her coat, it symbolizes more than attire—it represents empowerment, designed by and for women.” Eurest’s partnership emphasizes the company’s commitment to supporting U.S. jobs. All Eurest uniforms are designed and sewn at Newchef in Los Angeles, allowing for fast and efficient delivery. With this expansion, Eurest’s updated uniform program includes:
- Chef coats designed for all bodies with specifications tailored to the female body. Rather than a one-size-fits-most approach, Newchef considered a modern fit, adding side mesh panels and flexibility around the body.
- Aprons enhanced with modern hardware accents elevating the aesthetic and functionality, such as interchangeable color apron straps that can be used to represent different cultural moments and observances
- Reimagined barista uniforms that mirror street trends, as well as the option to choose different weighted fabrics, including lightweight cotton blends and flannel
- Maternity chef coats updated with lighter weight fabric, venting and improved comfort
- Modernized dietitian jackets made in part with sustainable hemp to support Eurest’s wellness team
