Juan Padilla Named 2026 Eurest Chef of the Year
He has cooked for a U.S. President, leads his operations with discipline and precision that has earned them prestigious recognitions and has a steady voice that many Eurest team members rely on for guidance and encouragement.

It is difficult to name just one thing that makes Chef Juan Padilla exceptional because his strength lies in how seamlessly he brings it all together.
In six years with Eurest, Juan advanced risen from executive chef to district chef while continuing to lead one of Eurest’s largest accounts in San Diego.
In that time, he has earned several of Eurest’s top honors, including Center for Excellence certification, a designation reserved for operations that meet or exceed Eurest’s highest standards, 2022 Marketplace of the Year and recognition as a Food with Purpose Change Maker.
Now, Juan has earned the title of Eurest Chef of the Year.
When he first learned the news, Juan was quick to share credit with the people who helped him along the way.
Regional Chef Gabe Ochoa of San Diego became an important mentor as Juan found his footing as an executive chef, recognizing his potential and encouraging him to pursue it.
“Chef Gabe is my model and really the reason I’m here today,” shared Juan.
Juan’s path has not been defined by getting everything right the first time. He has faced challenges, listened when others saw an opportunity for him to improve and applied that feedback to become a stronger chef and leader. His growth is a testament to both his determination and his belief that there is always more to learn.
Juan also remembers the welcome he received from neighboring Chef Manager Javier Vasquez.
“When you’re new to a company, having people reach out matters,” Juan says. “Javier really represents the culture of our company: respect and being there to help. To this day, he’s one of the chefs I count on most, and I make sure he gets that same support from me.”
Juan invests in the chefs he leads, taking the time to understand their strengths and create opportunities for them to grow.
His role as district chef has also widened the scope of his work, further sharpening his attention to what makes a great chef. Juan helps his teams understand not just what they do, but why they do it.
“Guests come to us from their busy workdays to enjoy 30 minutes of great hospitality and great food,” Juan says. “It all starts with us.”
That grounded outlook formed long before Juan came to Eurest. He grew up with two brothers and a sister, watching how hard their mother worked for the family. Today, he and his wife are raising two young daughters, and the example he sets for them is always at the front of his mind.
Chef of the Year is a standout moment in Juan’s career but what makes it all the more significant is knowing that some of his best work still lies ahead.
