Thank You, Chef

September 08, 2025

Behind every great meal is a chef. But their impact goes far beyond the plate.

Eurest chefs wear many hats, never losing sight of why they do what they do: to serve others through food. Chef Appreciation Week is our moment to say, simply and sincerely, thank you, Chef.

First observed in 2013, Chef Appreciation Week was founded by Donald and Lisa Crutch of Chefs Against Cancer. Their goal was to honor everyone who serves in the culinary industry and to spotlight the care and commitment chefs bring to their work and communities.

Compass Group USA partnered with the Crutch family in 2018 to bring that spirit of appreciation to life. Following Donald Crutch’s unexpected passing in 2019, the company pledged to carry on his legacy.

What began as a grassroots effort is now the largest global celebration of chefs and culinarians.

As Eurest prepares to celebrate its 30th anniversary in February 2026, this Chef Appreciation Week takes on special meaning. We’re honoring the passion and commitment of the chefs who have shaped our company’s story—those who have fueled growth, championed innovation, and served with integrity.

“Wearing the coat is a privilege. Chefs wear many hats—event planner, recruiter, administrator, safety enforcer—and all of it matters. The full scope of what chefs do may not be seen by everyone, but the impact is always felt,” said Compass Group Chief Culinary Officer Chef Chris Ivens-Brown

Join us in celebrating our chefs.  We appreciate you. Thank you, Chef, for all that you do.
